There is a tradition of having a large LEGO display at Salling in Aarhus. This is a collaborative display with many LEGO builders. This year Salling had requested models with movement, so I was invited.
The display was visible from the street and stood for 3 months, spanning the Christmas season.
My contribution was this scale model of Dybbol Mill, a "bat cave" where the Batmobile was standing on a rotating platform, as well as a rotating carrousel.
My neighbour to the left is Cammi, who has also participated in LEGO Masters.
The builders met a month before the display was set up in order to coordinate. Here are some buildings from "Old Town" in Aarhus.
One row of tables was used for caves, while another was used for our top displays.
The work space for setting up the display was quite small, so we had to plan it well.
At first I wanted to reuse the model of Dybbol Mill that we built many years ago. Unfortunately that model had been sold, so I started from scratch. I began building the model in Miniland scale (1:25) but quickly found the size to be too big for the display (and my stock of white bricks).
Starting over in "Minifigure" scale 1:45 resulted in a model that fit better into the display. A large 24V motor with a giant reduction gearbox was built into the model, as it was supposed to run every day for 3 months without any issues.
The motor is hidden well inside of the model. The tower is designed using BrickGraphics, while everything else was sculpted by hand.
My neighbours to the right are Ina and Emil with whom I have built several displays. For this display I mainly helped them with lights and motorization.
A minor contribution from me was also this Batwing, which is a standard LEGO set.
